Our Story
Fumbling with a sundress in a garden. That’s how the idea of DuCee was born. Lara O’Leary was walking barefoot through the backyard of her Oklahoma home when she stopped to tidy a flowerbed. Before she knew it, her skirt was dragging in the mud. The frustration of not having something handy to elevate the hem of her dress led to a thought. Women need an attractive piece of jewelry that can simultaneously transform into a fastening device for clothing. Lara enlisted world renowned sculptor and jewelry designer Steve McKibbin from Albuquerque, New Mexico to bring her vision of beauty and utility to life.

There have been many challenges worldwide creating then launching this groundbreaking jewelry line. Though-out it all, Lara gained strength from a poem titled “True North” written to her by her late father. Lara hopes your DuCee will make a few of life’s challenges a bit simpler but if life’s difficulties get you down, “True North” will help keep you on your path to the purpose of your being.

There’s something about a starlit night,
Bright and silent, full of awe and wonder;
Everlasting with its mysteries.
It seems the moon is saying, “Though morning will unfurl
Another challenge, you’ll meet it well, as always done.
Relax! Would I have shared this magnificence
If I didn’t believe in you?”
Look! The North Star! Constant in its leading.
Needing only you to keep it in sight.
Clouds may shield for a time, but it’s still there;
Twinkling and true, pointing the way, with light like day,
To the purpose of your being.
